After forming a group, the Furious Five, he went onto record “The Message”, the 1982 single that retooled the hypeman wordplay of the early hip-hop scene, introducing social commentary and establishing rap as the voice of the street.įive years later, Grandmaster Flash presented another innovation. Constructing his own twin-turntable-and-mixer set-up in his bedroom – a piece of kit that went on to become the industry standard – he further developed the breakbeat and pioneered scratching. Better known as Grandmaster Flash, Mr Saddler took the DJing techniques, first displayed in the block parties of the Bronx of the 1970s, to the next level. Perhaps no one man has done more to set the template for hip-hop, the dominant musical and cultural force of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, than Mr Joseph Saddler. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Some advertisers may be receptive to that message. “The ability to engage that younger audience is definitely something that is relatively unique to podcasts.” “So certainly, if I’m buying television with an average age of 55, I need to find ways to bring in that younger audience, and podcasts are a great way to do that,” Lucey said. Neal Lucey, evp of product and strategy at audio ad agency Oxford Road, noted that the average age of podcast listeners is 39. However, at the IAB’s annual Podcast Upfront in New York City in May, podcast networks and platforms encouraged marketers to spend more on the medium, which they said isn’t getting enough ad spend relative to the growth and listenership in audio. “We’ve got advertisers … that are just sprinting for the safety of YouTube and a more old-school embedded ad approach.” ![]() “It’s almost malpractice for the industry to keep promoting these ideas about how tech is going to improve this space until people can utilize and implement it in a way that makes for more efficient buys because, right now, it’s ending a lot of relationships,” he added. “This attitude of turnkey - we’ll make everything impression-based and will buy these ads, and we’ll roll them out and implement them however we see fit based on internal network guidelines - the promise of the tech has been amazing for the industry, but the implementation has been somewhat disastrous for many advertisers for many campaigns,” Rubenstein said. Glenn Rubenstein, CEO and founder of Adopter Media, said a lack of sophistication in implementing podcast ad campaigns using technology like programmatic ad buying, ad targeting and frequency capping may make some advertisers hesitant to invest in the channel and could be holding back growth. In light of these challenges and to gain a better understanding of podcast advertising’s future, Digiday+ Research, in partnership with Sounds Profitable, conducted an in-depth analysis of advertisers’ current podcast ad budgets and ad strategies to ascertain whether real-world spending tracks with expert predictions for growth and overall optimism about podcast ad spending. “It is smartly stupid and stupidly smart at the same time, where it bridges the worlds between offline media and digital media, and it doesn’t do either of them great. “Podcasting is a weird channel,” McNeil said. With listening time and ad spend on the rise, podcast advertising appears to be poised for further growth, especially as diversification of media spend remains a hot topic. That figure is expected to increase slightly next year to an hour and 45 minutes per day. adults will spend about one hour and 43 minutes per day listening to digital audio in 2023, per Insider Intelligence. Digital audio listening time for programming such as podcasts and music is anticipated to rise as well. Podcast advertising is expected to account for $2.25 billion of ad spend in 2023 and grow to $3.53 billion by 2026, according to Insider Intelligence. In fact, some companies like iHeartMedia, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal are even expanding their podcast teams during uncertain times, with the belief the medium still has room to grow.Īnd, they might not be wrong. Kindergarten Zimbabwe / Studio Anna Heringer. Because it is flexible, organic shapes can be easily achieved, as is the case with The Nest, by Porky Hefer Design, in which the material surrounds the roofs and most of the walls. But this does not mean that the material restricts the designers' creativity. Roofs with a steeper slope will make the water run faster, preventing potential infiltration problems. The roof is mounted from the bottom up and the top is where more care must be taken and more maintenance must be done, as it is a weak point for water infiltration. These are grouped and interwoven with a certain tension to form a surface, which through successive overlaps becomes impermeable and almost impenetrable to rodents and pests. Thatched roofing is a traditional method that involves using dry fibers such as straw, reeds, palm trees and other natural fibers to create a roof covering. There are indications of their use in the Aztec empires and in the first buildings of what we now call Europe, as well as research on its use in Europe, the UK and Mexico, among many others. However, researchers point out that the thatched structures date from the time when humans stopped being nomads and dedicated themselves to agriculture. As it is a natural and biodegradable material, there are very few traces of its use in old constructions, unlike stone structures or even rudimentary cements, for example. ![]() ![]() Researching the history of the use of thatched roofing is quite challenging. If we're talking Stance versus Bossnut, choose the 'nut and spend the difference on a dropper post and tubeless-ready rubber. The Bossnut makes short work of the Stance - pushing the Giant on rough (but appropriate) terrain feels a bit like trying to push a rope it's an over-cooked noodle of a frame that's still using a quick-release rear-end. Onto the cage match, and this time it's the Bossnut going up against the $1,800 Giant Stance and the $2,000 Vitus Mythique 29 VRX. Sure, push it hard and you'll find the difference between it and the back of the Vitus - it could feel noticeably choppier over repeated high-speed impacts - but what do you want from your $1,400 trail bike? ![]() The suspension sensitivity is just as good as its competition, and there's both support and ramp-up to run 30-percent sag and still hit all of the trail bike-appropriate lines without worry. Levy: "I had my fourth quickest climbing time, third quickest descent time, and was fifth over the entire loop.''Īt the other end of the bike, the Bossnut's 130mm of travel and little Monarch R shock gave us nothing to moan about. ![]() Kazimer: "I had my second fastest climbing time, fifth fastest descending time, and my fifth fastest overall time" Nothing too rowdy, but representative of the terrain these trails bikes were intended to see.ĭon't forget that timing is just one of many ways to judge a bike, and fast doesn't always mean it's the best for everyone. After that, we dropped into a fast descent that began with rough, suspension-testing corners before some fast berms, flat corners, and a few fun-sized jumps. First, a smooth, twisty singletrack climb topped out along a technical traverse that tested the bike's slow-speed handling and traction. Our timed lap for the trail bikes was around 11 minutes long and split into three distinct sectors. Out of the eight value bikes, how do you think the Bossnut fared? Speaking of fun, heatstroke, and cactus, here's a spoiler alert: The 27.5" wheeled Calibre was the underdog of the Impossible Climb pseudo-science test (yes, there's a video coming) but ended up surprising everyone. With plenty of pep, a compact feeling cockpit, and a head angle that I would have guessed to be a full degree steeper than it actually is, the Calibre has that darty personality that can make technical climbs fun. Not even the fast-rolling, low-traction rear tire could stymie the 'nut, although it sure did its best on the dusty, loose Sedona singletrack. It's efficient, but its real forte is on the tight, technical climbs where it makes short work of those low-speed tests of balance. The 130mm-travel single-pivot rear-suspension doesn't feel like it wastes any watts, which is nice given that I don't have any to waste and the shock doesn't have a pedal-assist switch. Okay, it wouldn't be my first choice (that's the Vitus) or my last (shoutout to the Giant Stance), but the Bossnut does a remarkable job of hiding its low-cost price tag on the climbs, trucking along just as well as bikes costing more than twice as much. The Bossnut is the lone 27.5" wheeled bike in our Field Trip group test, along with also being the least expensive full-suspension bike by $400, so I mistakenly assumed that it'd be the worst climber of the bunch to boot. Speaking of holes, the only place to carry water is on the underside of the Bossnut's down tube. That’s hung off a fairly basic aluminum frame it uses steel pivot hardware and simple tube shapes, but you’ll also see things like ISCG tabs, a (non-Boost) thru-axle, and while it doesn’t come with a dropper post because you can't have everything at this price, goddamnit, it does have the frame holes to accept one. The suspension design is a single-pivot, linkage activated system that drives a RockShox Monarch R shock, paired with a 130mm-travel Recon RL on the front of the bike. Buuuuut anymore than that might require some re-thinking. Those numbers are relatively contemporary and wouldn’t be out of place on something much pricer, so the Bossnut won't need retiring as an entry-level rider progresses their skills to mid-level status. I’m 5’10” on a good day, putting me on a large-sized Bossnut with a modest 460mm reach, 66 and 74.5-degree head and seat angles, and 436mm chainstays. MMSE data were referenced in this study because there is little information on the relationship between the MoCA and MMSE-2. The participants included 95 subjects with dementia, 172 subjects with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and 36 cognitively unimpaired (CU) subjects. Overall, 303 participants who had visited the hospital from April 2020 to February 2021 were evaluated. This was a retrospective observational study of subjects who visited a memory clinic at a university hospital in the Republic of Korea and who were referred for neuropsychological screening. Therefore, this study attempted to derive a conversion table from the MoCA to the MMSE-2 to develop a simple and reliable conversion algorithm for the two scales and to compare the new conversion algorithm with those described in previous studies. However, to the best of our knowledge, no study has converted the MoCA to the MMSE-2. These conversion methods have been validated in other languages. Previous studies have attempted to develop MoCA to MMSE conversion algorithms or equivalency tables. In addition, many clinicians want to predict the MMSE score based on the MoCA score. Unfortunately, clinical trials vary in their use of these two scales, which makes comparisons between studies and meta-analyses difficult because the direct comparison of scores between the MMSE and MoCA is complicated. The use of the MoCA is increasing for cognitive screening because it can be obtained free of charge and it has specific clinical characteristics. The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) is another cognitive screening test that has higher sensitivity than the MMSE for detecting early-stage cognitive decline. However, under copyright restrictions, the MMSE can no longer be used, and the MMSE-2 must be purchased, potentially limiting its routine use in clinical and research settings. Verifying MMSE scores in clinical practice is very important because many dementia practice guidelines refer to MMSE scores as a standardized tool for cognitive testing. Most clinical studies for dementia medication have used the MMSE score or changes in this score to determine the severity of dementia or effectiveness of treatments. Importantly, MMSE-Second Edition: Standard version (MMSE-2) scores can be switched from MMSE scores without any score conversion. In 2010, the MMSE-Second Edition, a revised version of the MMSE, was introduced. The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) is the most widely used cognitive screening test. ![]() ![]() ![]() Please visit the contact page for full policy details.
